The Magic of Our Community

Amsteel Mural GW03Once upon a time, Leslie Pritchett saw something on our “fantasy list” that made her exclaim with joy and inquire, “When is that going to happen?”

The fantasy was to paint our logo on the front of the building and add the word STUDIOS after the name AMERICAN STEEL that had been painted on the façade decades ago.

We didn’t have the knowledge, time or resources to make that happen, but Leslie didn’t see this as an obstacle. She called her friend Simon Clarke from Seattle to come down with his high powered projector. Andrew Johnstone volunteered to sketch the projection on the wall, and suddenly this fantasy was becoming a reality.
American Steel Studios would like to heartily thank those many fabulous souls who donated time, equipment and pizza to help make this project come to fruition!facade1

Leslie for her extraordinary knack for making magic happen,
Andrew for overcoming his fear of heights and sketching the artwork,
Simon for working late nights 30′ in the air operating the projector,
Nick Gardner, Michelle Burke, Leslie Isaac, Splob, Margaret Long, Sally Brown and Anne Olivia Eldred for painting for hours, and hours, and hours,
PG+E for generously cutting the power to allow us to do this work safely,
and United Rentals for the boom-lifts!

American Steel Studios is truly the kind of place where one can fantasize about a project, and the energy, tools and resources to do it somehow materialize. On to the next fantasy!
