Amanda Lockwood (Mandy) is an Oakland Unified public school teacher, muralist and artist. She has been active in the Oakland arts and education community for about 16 years, since completing her BFA from CCAC in 1998. She combines a variety of materials, from collage to oils, acrylics and watercolors, and her work includes personal images mixed with themes around science and the natural world, while mixing elements of realism and abstraction. Her BFA is in painting and she has completed extended courses in painting and drawing in Florence, Italy, in addition to completing her multiple subject credential in 2011. She has a strong interest in emergent curriculum, project-based learning and public art as a transformative experience.
