American Steel Studios was founded in 2009 to provide affordable space in which artists and entrepreneurs can create and inspire. The population is diverse and creative, manifesting a space that is resplendent with cross-pollination and inspiration.

Our population includes industrial artists and large-scale sculptors, painters, photographers, printers, fire artists, illustrators, furniture makers and lighting, costume, fashion, and jewelry designers along with entrepreneurs and innovators working to bring new energy and environmental technology to light.

Our founder, Karen Cusolito, sits on the board of the West Oakland Commerce Association, the Advisory Board for the Crucible, is a founding member of the Oakland Makers and the recipient of the 2013 Alameda County Arts Leadership Award.

American Steel Studios is proud to offer public art tours on the Second Saturday of every month in 2015 from 2pm-4pm, with a rotating list of participating artists.
