A year ago, three groups came together out of love for our West Oakland community and all those who live, work, and play here. We started joining forces with dedicated community groups, neighbors, businesses, and individuals to clean our streets, remove graffiti, and enhance the natural beauty of the world around us.
This year, we continued in that tradition during the Dr. King Day of Service Community Clean Up. Over 25 volunteers from the community and Americorps spent the afternoon removing litter, debris, and graffiti from our West Oakland neighborhood. Together, we removed dozens of bags of debris and covered hundreds of square feet of graffiti.
Much appreciation is due to everyone that attended and made it happen. Another huge thank-you goes out to the City of Oakland Department of Public Works, who generously donated the dumpster, supplies, and waste removal.
