Dedicated to excellence and student achievement
Ralph J. Bunche High School is committed to equipping their students with the tools they need for academic, personal and social achievement.
“We enable every student to reach their highest potential by establishing a curriculum that meets or exceeds government standards for education; providing extracurricular programs that develop children’s mental, physical and social skills; and partnering with parents and the community to create an environment geared to the success of our students.”
At American Steel Studios, we are excited by the new partnership with the school. Students from Miss Brown’s Biology class will be volunteering with Groundation Foundation to install a living wall on the facade of our building. Art students from Mr. G’s class will be creating a living mural on the Poplar wall facing the school. Other options are being explored as we start to plan for next year.
Located across the street from American Steel Studios, Ralph J. Bunche High School is an alternative continuation high school. The public school offers nontraditional education for students whose needs cannot be met in a regular, special education, or vocational school. While alternative schools are distinct from regular, special education, and vocational schools in their teaching approach or classroom environment, they can provide similar services and/or curriculum for students.
The Christian Science Monitor Recently posted an article on the creative approach to teaching and school structure at our neighboring school entitled: Restorative justice: One high school’s path to reducing suspensions by half. In one tough high school in Oakland, Calif., a restorative justice program has cut suspensions in half in just a year. Read the whole article Here
We are pleased to be supporting this school and their creative approach to education and community involvement with a group of talented young people and the support of Miss Steele, the new Principal.
